The only word I can get out of my mouth is ‘more’ because that’s all I want right now. It’s been far too long since someone has pleased me, and Ineedher to continue.

She huffs out a quiet laugh, which has her warm breath flitting across my sensitive clit. I bow my back, and she dives in, sinking her forked tongue deep into me. A strangled cry leaves my lips as I fist my hands in the sheets again. That only serves to encourage her, making her tongue split inside me until she finds my G-spot.

“Fuck,” I whimper, hips moving of their own accord as she fucks me with her decadent tongue.

Then her snakes join in the fun. One of them latches onto my clit while another wiggles itself toward my ass, flicking its tongue over my tight hole. I’ve never let anyone play with me there, but if that’s what this woman wants, I’ll let her do it. All the sensations have me writhing beneath her; I’m already so close.

Her tongue slips out of me, but her snakes don’t stop their pursuits. “Come on my tongue, Vee. Drown me in your delicious arousal.”

My eyes roll back and my toes curl as she slides her tongue back in, splitting it to toy with the walls of my pussy. It’s all becoming so overwhelming, but I’m tipped over the edge when the snake on my clit releases my sensitive bundle of nerves andanother bites down harder, suctioning onto the area. I scream my release, slamming my eyes shut. When spots dance across my vision, I fear I’m going to pass out.

Roxi lets me ride out my orgasm before she and her snakes release their hold on me. I’m a shaking mess, unable to do anything but breathe while this beautiful woman kisses her way up my body. When she reaches my neck, I turn my face to capture her lips. We kiss for what feels like hours, but is probably only minutes at the most.

She pulls back, needing to come up for air. Her hooded eyes fixate on mine, and we stay there, staring at each other while we breathe heavily.

“I really want to stay in this bed all day with you, but I would also love to get some stuff from my father’s house,” she whispers.

My brows furrow. “What do you need? I’ll get it for you. I won’t let your father’s men take you from me again.”

“I mean, I need clothes and the like more than anything.”

“We can buy you new stuff. I don’t want you going back there,” I growl.

She tenses her jaw. “What happened to not keeping me locked up?”

I sigh. “We can go out and buy things, but I don’t want you going back to that house.”

One of her eyebrows raises. “And how are we going to manage that with my stone-turning gaze?”

“Fuck. I forgot about that, weirdly enough. Let me find some sunglasses or something for you.”

“Sunglasses don’t help inside,” she says with an eye roll.

“We’ll figure something out. It’s nearly Halloween, and the humans are on high alert from what I’ve heard.”

Her mouth pops open, and her eyes light up. “I’ve always wanted to dress up for Halloween. It looks like so much fun.”

“I can try to find you a mask to wear, but most of the time it draws more attention to your eyes.”

“Can you find me a veil? It blocks people from being able to look directly into my eyes, and I can still see with it on.”

“You know, that’s a great idea. Let me get dressed, and I’ll see if I can find one in town. Your clothes are here on the bed—probably underneath me, honestly.” I say, giving her a quick kiss before I climb out of bed.

Chapter ten

When Avyanna leaves for town, I get dressed and look around her apartment. There’s really nothing to it. With her being a hunter, it makes sense. She travels a lot for work, and there’s only so much she can travel with, especially if she’s trying to get somewhere quickly. I can’t help but wonder if the hunters have some sort of moving agency on speed dial or something of the sort.

I roll my eyes at the stupid thought. What does it matter if they have a moving agency? Avyanna can literally become other people; I’m sure she’s able to get new stuff without needing money.

I’m just so used to my father, who could basically snap his fingers to get anything he wanted. I swear he had more money than I could ever comprehend, and he made sure everyone knew it when he was alive, too. For as long as I can remember, my father moved us from house to house, all over the world, eachone furnished to the nines. I never knew whether he owned the homes we stayed in. Every time I tried to ask, he told me it wasn’t my place. He also made it very clear that none of his assets would come to me when he died. It wasn’t like I could argue with him because the only ones who knew I existed were the guards who used to protect me.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve longed for a family and to feel like I belong somewhere. Being locked up inside house after house, I gave up on that dream. Now that Avyanna has gotten me away from the guards who kept me under lock and key, maybe I can finally be happy. I know it’s going to be difficult to integrate into society with my inability to look at people, but I want to make it work; I’m tired of being confined to one place.

The soft click of a door echoes down the hall, and I go on the defensive. Part of me hopes it’s Avyanna, but if she’s already back, I’ll be shocked; she wasn’t gone for long. However, I keep having to remind myself that we’re far from any of the shops. I just didn’t think it’d be easy to find a veil.

Heading toward the living room, I go to round the corner and run smack dab into Avyanna. I nearly fall, but she catches me, a smile cresting her lips.

“Going somewhere?” she asks nonchalantly.
