Theo rested his forehead to mine, and the gesture was such a soft, intimate one that it caught me off guard. It also made my heart skip several beats.

“Moi aussi j'en ai envie,”he said, then pulled back to look me in the eye. “I want that too. Besides, I think my head might explode if you decided to find someone else.”

“Explode?”

“Uh huh, and we both know how unstable I am.”

“This is true.”

“Don’t even need a knife to rid myself of a problem.”

I groaned, knowing just how lethal his hands could be. “Don’t remind me.”

“Plus, I have friends who can hide a body.”

A laugh bubbled out of me. “Chaos. That’s what you are. Inandout of your suit.”

“That’s right.” Theo pushed me back to the bed. “And just so you don’t forget, how about I show you just how chaotic I can be?”

And for the next couple of hours, he did just that.

SHEP

“I’M GONNA OPEN a bottle of wine,” Theo called out from the kitchen. “Red or white?”

“Either’s fine.” I sat on the edge of the couch, trying to secure a line so we could reach out to King. We’d agreed to touch base every fourth day, and somehow we’d already been in Brazil that long.

God, how had the time passed by so fast? Maybe it was the way Theo had my full attention now, whether it was the hours spent in bed or the moments we came up for air—and occasionally food.

Priorities.

“Any luck?” Theo carried two full-to-the-brim glasses of white wine into the living room, and to my surprise, he’d thrown on shorts and a shirt at some point. He hadn’t bothered with clothes in the last couple of days, and I wasn’t complaining about that at all, but considering we were about to have a call with our brothers, I didn’t need the distraction his body provided.

I just hadn’t imagined he’d actuallylistento my clothing suggestion.

“Think you could’ve topped me off any more?” I said when he handed me the glass, careful not to spill it.

“I figured you might need the liquid courage to deal with the bossman.”

“So what’s your excuse?”

Theo grinned and sat down beside me, close enough that our legs touched. “I’m thirsty.”

I shook my head and brought the glass to my lips, but stopped when he tsked. “What?”

“It’s bad luck not to do a toast. Everyone knows that.” He lifted his wine and waited for me to do the same. “To you and I staying off the grid. Preferably naked.”

“You’re insane.”

“Just drink,” he said, pushing my glass toward my lips, encouraging the large mouthful I ended up swallowing.

Chilled, slightly sweet, and delicious, the wine went down far too easily, and I found myself drinking a little more.

“Yessss,” Theo encouraged me, moving his hand to my lap to massage my dick. “Let tipsy Shep come out to play.”

“No, no, no.” I set the wine aside and moved his hand. “Work first, play later.”
