“No helmet, no bandana.” My eyes trail over the length of his body, and lower to the one hanging outside his pocket.

“Why do you go on rides with other men?”

“They are my friends.”

“They just want to get inside your pants.”

“Like you,” I retort, not a shard less than my usual attitude when I’m around him.

His raspy chuckles fill the air before he slides his shades atop his head in broad daylight and takes my breath away. I capture every detail I can and commit it to memory; those green eyes, I forgot how green they were that when the sun hits them they look yellow. His sharp features and high cheekbones accentuate his manly face. He has plumped Cupid’s bow lips that tasted so good againstmine—he’s breath-taking that it paralyzes me.

“Are you drunk?” he assesses me, then looks behind me, probably seeing the empty bottle of whiskey, “Who did this to you?”

Like always, it all fades when he opens his mouth and makes me question my sanity.

“I did!” I open my eyes wide, “I’m a grown woman and I can drink.”

“Were you with someone?” his deep voice is low and steady.

“I was with Lai.”

“Who the fuck is Lai?”

“You left after you gave me the best kiss in the entire world, and now you demand answers. I don’t owe you anything.” My expressive facial features twitch with every word that comes out of my mouth to emphasize my point.

“Who the fuck is Lai?” he repeats it like a broken record.

“Are you jealous, Meadow?” I let my palm rest on my hips.

He shoves his face into mine, squinting his eyes in anger, “I won’t ask you again.” He waits with growing impatience to hear my reply. His hot breath is hovering over my face as my pussy clenches.

Feeling him up close like that creates pleasant tingles of excitement that travel all over my body.

“The girl who works at the bar,” I enunciate each word, letting the irritation on my face say the rest as I take a step back.

He tears his gaze away like he can’t even look at me andhuffs in relief while his jaw tics restlessly.

“Get your shit together. I know it’s your day off so don’t wander outside, and if you have to, call me.”

“I don’t have your number.” I evade his gaze, fixating mine on his neck where a necklace hangs, a bow necklace without an arrow.

He steps into my room and snatches my phone that lies on the table. His ringed fingers jab the screen as he types his number and puts it back in place before he turns to leave. He takes a few steps and contemplates for a moment before he grabs my wrist and pulls me into the bathroom.

“What are y—no! NO!” I try to wriggle out of his hold but he is so fucking strong it doesn’t bother him in the slightest. “No!” the word is thick in my mouth.

He throws me into the shower and opens the tap. The cold water cascades down my clothes, raising my temper to a hot lava degree. His features darken as he peers at my wet form one last time.

“Meadow!” I yell as he storms outside and I follow him, covering the floor with chunks of water and almost sliding backward before I shut the door with a bang and immediately regret it.

Ugh!

He makes me want to pull my hair off because understanding him is impossible but he sure as shit won’t tell me what to do.

I clean up quickly, grab my shoes, shove my phone into my pocket, and exit the room with the Pepsi in hand. I’m notgoing to ride today but my stomach makes monstrous sounds and it’s already smelling like lunch so I might enjoy it.

When I reach the tables, Lenny waves with a plate she already fixed for me. “You look… wet.” She points out with a friendly smile. “No judgment.”

“I had a mild accident with a cockroach,” I mutter. That damn prick. “Thank you for the food.”
