Kingston juts his chin at me, grabbing my attention. “So now, not only do we have all of this Nick shit… but this latest development is really fuckin’ weird. It’s not her phone. Unless she has a second. And if she does, why the bag?”
I shrug my shoulders, tapping out another message.
Yeah. It’s strange.
I honestly don’t know what we should do.
Archer grits his teeth. “Me neither. The thing is… if I take it out, and it’s on, who knows what hell that unleashes on us.”
Kingston shakes his head. “We don’t need this right now.”
“So”—Archer clears his throat, glancing uncertainly from me to Kingston—“I didn’t mention this earlier, but I spent all fuckin’ night looking specifically at the video feeds anytime we weren’t with Elliot.” He scratches his head. “I, uh, think I found something interesting, but I don’t know if it’s connected.”
I cock my head to the side, narrowing my eyes.
“The night we took all the assholes to the fucked-up hellhole, Elliot left her room while we were gone. It took me a bit because this occurred before I added the extra cameras, so all I had to go on was her camera, the one I installed facing her door. It catches people going in and out.”
“Anyway, when she left, she didn’t shut her door. She went straight across the hall to my room. A few minutes later, she hurried back out and disappeared from view, but I could faintly hear another door opening and closing. Then it happened again. My guess is that she went into all of our rooms that night.”
I squint at him, trying to understand what he’s getting at.
“That’s when I heard Dane. If you recall, we asked him to check on her. They must have been in your doorway, K.”
Kingston’s brow draws together. “He never said anything strange happened that night.”
“Nope, he didn’t. But get this, and keep in mind what I was hearing was a recording that was picked up from her camera, so it’s not great quality, but I swear I heard him specifically ask ‘What are you doing in Kingston’s room?’She takes a while to respond, but I swear she said something about underwear?” His brow quirks at Kingston. “Any chance she was without panties that day in your room?”
Kingston’s lips twitch. “Possibly.” He clears his throat. “Go on.”
Archer smirks. “That’s what I thought. Anyway, if that’s what she was doing in there, why was she also in our rooms?”
I lift a finger to get them to wait while tons of questions roll through my head. I’m so fuckin’ confused.
Was anything else said?
Something incriminating, or…
“Just Dane saying something about her needing to rest.”
Fuck.Dane hadn’t uttered a word about Elliot being in Kingston’s room.
“Yeah”—Archer smiles faintly, reading the disturbed look on my face correctly—“Dane never said a word. There’s a little bit more, but I don’t know if it’s important. The rest is video and audio from her room, and it’s mostly Elliot asking Dane for information about where we went that night.” Archer’s eyes flick toward me, a small smile on his lips. “She mentions seeing you plow into Bridger outside.”
I chuckle silently.Good.I’m glad she was able to witness my revenge on him.
“She goes into her bathroom at one point, and as you know, I have cameras in there. She stood inside, looking kinda sketchy for at least thirty seconds before she went to the only spot where there's no camera…”
The toilet.
Archer cocks his head to the side with a you-tell-me shrug. “Because you know, she supposedly had to pee. But it sure as fuck didn’t seem like it occurred to her to venture near the toilet for a bit. Not until she realized she’d be off camera. That’s how I took her actions, anyway.”
Kingston grumbles. “Fuck, I don’t know what to make of that.”
“I’ll show you the video if you want to see that part on the monitors upstairs.” Archer bobs his head, exhaling slowly. “But the way she was acting was certainly strange.”
Kingston nods grimly, biting down on his lip. “I think you’d better show us everything. We’ll have you do that later this afternoon, and”—he runs his hand over his face—“fuck, I guess we’ll have to discuss how to tackle everything.”
I wave a hand to let them know I have a question.
