Jacob had initially inspected, but the details from the people, to the blood
was immaculately done. He wasn’t much of an art fan, but he recognized
the craft it would take to render Jesus’ abs so perfectly.
“It’s…nice.” Jacob said as he examined the space.
“Feel free to sit in the sanctuary, or take a look around. I just need to
head to the meeting. I won’t be long. Promise.”
“It’s okay. You don’t need to take care of me the whole time, but I
appreciate the concern.”
“Of course.” Joe motioned for a moment, as if he were going to kiss
Jacob, but Jacob stepped back. Joe looked disappointed for a moment before
nodding. He understood. At least Jacob thought he did.
With no one around, Jacob took a moment to poke around the space.
Hanging above the pulpit was a Jesus on the cross, but this one was darker
than the typical ones you see in most churches. He was in front of several
stained glass murals that stretched tall and long through the space, often
depicting battles and bloody moments of what he assumed was the bible,
or crusades- or perhaps some kind of rave? He wasn’t exactly sure which
but they all appeared quite raucous in their own way.
A couple of men walked through the halls following Joe into the room,
when suddenly Jacob saw someone he didn’t expect.
“Jeff?”
Jacob looked as Jeff paused and looked back at him.
“Oh. Hi Jacob. I didn’t…” Jeff looked at Jacob and then around at where
he was. “Are you new here?”
“I guess you could say I’m visiting.” Jacob responded. He wasn’t quite
sure what to say. “What are you-?”
“Just a meeting I guess. It’s-” Jeff paused. He didn’t appear to know
what to say either.

to ask what kind of meeting- but considering it was a church, it could be
