“What do I do?” Jacob asked.

“Kick her!” Teddy exclaimed louder.

“I’m not kicking her Teddy! Help me out here! Garret can’t come out and see her like this!”

“Why not?” Teddy asked.

“First off, she might be injured. Secondly, she’s sound asleep!”

“I don’t follow.” Teddy shrugged his wings.

“People don’t sleep at work!” Jacob yelled.

“I feel like that’s racist against Spanish people somehow?” Teddy began.

“I’m pretty sure THAT’S racist against Spanish people!” Jacob exclaimed.

“I can’t be racist. I’m a bird! You mammals are all the same to me!” Teddy clucked.

Then, with a yawn Garret slowly meandered out of his office. He rubbed his eyes and pulled down his shirt as it became abundantly apparent that he had been napping in the back. Jacob was jealous- he wanted a nap.

“What’s going on? I heard a slam.” Garret asked.

“It’s just Serena she…slipped?” Jacob responded not even convinced by his own lie. Garret took a look at him and then her with a strange expression.

“Is she asleep?” He finally asked.

“No…” Jacob began before instantly responding with, “yes.”

“Then wake her up.” He yawned again, which then made Jacob yawn.

“I can’t.” Jacob muffled through his yawn.

“Try again.” Garret yawned again.

“Look- I’ve tried. I’m pretty sure she’s gone. She’s out. I don’t think we’ll be able to wake her. It’s like…a narcolepsy thing?” Jacob responded.

“She’s raising the dead?” Garret asked.

“See, now that would be a crazy power to discover you had.” Teddy began.

“Look, I’m just pointing out that she’s asleep and I’m not able to wake her up.” Jacob said. He shook her. He yelled at her. Nothing. She remained on the floor snoring.

“Okay- well I guess you’ll need to close up by yourself then.” Garret responded.

“Oh please don’t be serious.” Jacob began.

“Sorry, but if she’s not waking up, I need someone to work the full close.”

“Can’t you do it?” Jacob asked. Garret looked at him confused.

“But I’m the manager.” He said aghast.

“I know that but if she can’t work and I-”

“But I’m the manager…” Garret responded.

“But-” Garret looked at Jacob very confused by what he was suggesting.
