I still don’t love the idea, but she’s starting to bring me around to her way of thinking. We’re talking about combining our efforts and using the produce I grow to do a kind of farm to table experience that will make it more appealing for visitors.
On top of that, we’re going to sell it as a workcation where people who want the farming experience can come and get a taste of growing their own produce. They’ll be paying to stayhere, and we’ll be getting free labor as part of their stay. It’s actually pretty genius, and I’ll put up with people for free labor.
The spot we’ve chosen for the tents is away from my cabin, so we’ll have some privacy, making the whole thing more tolerable.
Becca steps out of the storage shed where she’s been sorting the other load of apples. A smile breaks across her beautiful face when her eyes meet mine.
I put the tractor in park and turn it off before jumping down next to her. I pull her into me and kiss her as if it’s been months and not only minutes since I last saw her.
When we break apart, both breathless, she shakes her head. “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of getting greeted like that, even if it’s only been a few minutes.”
“Nor will I,” I promise.
I didn’t get to buy the property like I originally planned, but the future is definitely looking better than if I had ended up doing so. As I told Becca before, I will always pick her. She fills my life with light and laughter I hadn’t realized were missing. I can’t wait until this place is filled with kids who look just like her and add even more of it to my life.
