“One can always hope, Mr.Ulrichce.”

Chapter 33 – Marc

Marcwaiteduntiltheywere back on the plane before he pounced on Wayla.

“Gods, you were so perfect even I was fooled, and Iknewwhat the plan was,” he rasped between kisses.Wayla giggled, a free, happy sound he hadn’t heard from her before.

“Your father figured it out though.”

His brain stalled, and he leaned back.“What?”

“During the big shout-out.He somehow figured it out,” Wayla said, still grinning happily.Marc frowned.

“Are you sure? Why didn’t he say anything?”

Wayla rolled her eyes and kissed the tip of his nose.“He did.You just weren’t paying attention.”

“I—but…” That was all Marc could say.

“Don’t fret about it, honey.”Wayla buckled herself up as the plane started rolling.Marc still had trouble putting his thoughts in order, so he followed suit silently.Wayla filled the silence with easy chatter.“I like your brother. He’s one smart cookie. That seems to run in the Ulrichce family.”

“Yeah, Tanner is great,” Marc replied automatically.

“I always wished I had a brother.Well, any sibling, but I wanted a brother more than a sister.”

“Oh?”

“I would have to share my toys with a sister, but I always thought I could play with a brother.”Wayla laughed.

“You are an only child?”Marc finally caught a grip of the conversation. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t asked such a basic question before. Now that he was thinking about it, he actually didn’t know anything about Wayla’s family.

“Yeah,” Wayla replied, less happily now.

“Are your parents still together? You could get—”

“No,” she said tersely.“They are not.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.”

Wayla seemed to deflate and rubbed her face before lifting her eyes to meet his.“I’m sorry.I’m just still not used to…” She fell silent for a long time.“My father is dead.”

Marc yanked his seatbelt off and moved to kneel in front of her.“Wayla, I’m so, so sorry.”

“It’s not… I’m not… I don’t want to talk about it, okay?”

“Okay.”He didn’t let go of her trembling fingers. She sat still until they were leveling out in the air and then sighed.

“Thank you for taking me to see your family.”

Marc didn’t know what to say, so his stupid mouth took over again.“Still want to keep to the fake dating status? You could have a part in all that glory as my real girlfriend.”

“Oh, Marki-bear, I think having the fake part of that is quite enough for the likes of me.”

“Wayla—”

“How much time do we have left?I’ve never had an orgasm this high up.”She cut him off.

“I think we can give you more than one by the time we touch down.”
