“Um…” Wave trailed a finger over her hips, waist, and butt.“Bruises.”

Diana choked again.

“Right.”Chrissy just kept circling.“I can’t make you a fully spelled dress, but if I take measurements and spell it to mold to those… Would that work, Ginny?”

“It should. As long as there’s no power residue,” Ginny replied.

“You can check it before I hand it to Wayla.”

“Sure.”

“What are you going to do about classes,” Diana asked.

“I have two lectures today, those should be fine as long as my ass can take sitting down,” Wave said, grimacing.“I’m not sure about the elemental training, though.I’m not exactly keen on letting the teacher or anyone else know what happened.”

“Hmm,” Diana tapped her lower lip.“The teacher shouldn’t be a problem, but the other students… I can see why you want to keep this under wraps. You got out of the party before anyone realized, right?”

“I think Sinister did, but I’m not worried about him.”

“Yeah, fair bet that you’ll be fine with all the Powerhouses. They pull together, and you have three of them in your bed,” Ginny said.

“Who do you have for elemental?”Diana asked.

“Dr.Johanson.”

Diana grimaced.“Yeah, I got nothing for you there.Claim a headache and skip her class?”

“Maybe Salis can come up with something.I’d rather keep skipping to a minimum.”

“Wayla, serious question,” Ginny pulled her attention.“If you had to, could you access your power now?”

“Sure?”Wave replied, not really getting what she meant.

“I mean, like, could you shield?Attack?Make a water horse?”Ginny persisted.

“Water horse, sure.”Wave quirked a brow.“Anything simple like that shouldn’t be a problem, and I held my basic shields through it all.”Too bad her basic shields didn’t work against power echoes.Hers were tailored to keep things in, not theoretically harmless powers out.

“You what?”Ginny gasped, cutting her off.

Wave blinked.“You asked about shields.I had to drop the third.I couldn’t keep it stable, but my base duo was fine.I think I should survive one day without the third one.I can always pull up an external one if there’s a need.”

Now all three of them were staring at her like she had grown a second head or something.

“So what, exactly, is your apprehension regarding the elemental class?”

“Uh…” Wave stammered.Hadn’t she just resolved herself to live more carefully?

“No, spill it, Wayla,” Ginny said with narrowed eyes.“I just listened to you getting railed through eightfold power buildup.Tell me.”

If she had been demanding, Wave could have resisted, but the look in her eyes was hurt.Taking a deep, fortifying breath, Wave blurted it out.

“It’s electricity.I’m afraid I’ll slip and turn the spark into a full-blown thunderstorm.”

It was silent for a while, and Wave watched Ginny and Chrissy share several meaningful glances.Diana looked a bit lost through it all.It was Chrissy who picked up the questioning.

“What’s your most familiar element?”

“Water,” Wave answered easily. It was no secret.Water in all its forms was her playhouse.Chrissy nodded.
