"What is it?"

I took a deep breath, then pulled back so he could see my face, keeping my hands on his in an attempt to read him.

"Will you... will you make love to me?" I cringed at the flowery words, but I couldn't think of another way to word it. I didn't want him tofuckme. I wanted him to take his time and show me what he felt for me through his body. How else was I supposed to explain that?

Shade was silent for a moment, and just when I started to worry he wasn't interested and I'd just messed up our whole evening, he spoke.

"I would love to," he said, a smile in his voice, and I relaxed. "But you should know I... I have no experience to speak of, so I might not be very good at it."

I paused, hovering inches above his lips as I'd been about to kiss him again, and smiled. "Same, so I guess we can figure it out together."

Shade seemed to take a moment to digest that, but then his lips were on mine, and he turned us around, pressing me into the mattress as he covered my body with his.

Sitting up, I grabbed Diego's t-shirt, and he helped me take it off him, revealing his bare torso to me. Hanging the t-shirt over the headboard—I didn't want him to accidentally trip over it—I was just about to kiss him again when a fluffball hopped onto his chest and curled right up, like I'd removed his t-shirt just so she could cuddle him better.

We were both silent for a moment. Then Diego started laughing, making Pixie bob up and down on his chest. She still didn't leave.

"Your cat is a menace," I informed him, and as if she'd understood me, she shot me a look, then splayed right out, her hind legs stretching straight down as she grabbed Diego's shoulder with her front paws.

"Give me a minute. I'm going to get rid of this cat," I said, making Diego snort.

Picking up the cat—I had to use my shadows to dislodge her claws from Diego's skin before she drew blood—I carried her over to the entrance, then placed her outside in the small hallway that separated the Darkness from the main hallway. It was there so no light would accidentally spill into my area when someone came in.

Closing the door in Pixie's adorable little face, I grabbed my phone and texted Zamir. I would've texted Liam, but I wasn't bothering him the night before his big day.

Me: Can you grab the menace of a cat from my hallway and babysit her for the night?

Zamir: What do I get in return?

Me: My eternal gratitude?

Zamir: . . .

I sighed, knowing exactly what he wanted.

Me: I'll help you prank the others.

Zamir: YES! Finally! I've only been asking for a year. I'll come pick her up. What's her name, again?

Me: Pixie.

Zamir had been begging me to help him prank the others for a while, and I'd usually blown him off simply because I liked being in everyone's good graces. But I needed Pixie out of here, and so I had to do it. At least I knew that Zamir would never be mean-spirited in the pranks he played on our friends. He'd finally found the way to get what he wanted, and I had a feeling this wouldn't be the last time.

Hearing the outside door open, I nodded to myself, then made my way back to Diego and our bed. He was right where I'd left him, but where he'd had his pants on before, he was completely naked now, his pants crumpled up and tucked between the pillow and headboard.

"You didn't, like, eat her, did you?" Diego asked, and I stared at him, unsure if he could at all be serious.

"What? No!"

He snorted, and I relaxed, then climbed on top of him again.

"Relax, I was just teasing you."

"She's with Zamir, and he promised to take care of her for the whole night."

"Good," Diego said, then wrapped his legs around my waist, pulling me into a kiss as my cock pressed against his thigh, and his against my abdomen. Sliding my tongue into his mouth, I kissed him deeper, and he moaned, rocking up into me as he kissed back.
