Miranda reached for me and the heat of our skin pressed against each other in a conversation of hard and soft, want and need.

Her hands moved with purpose and tenderness over my chest and my pulsating heart. Miranda had shown me that to be loved in all my messy, chaotic entirety was not just a possibility, but a reality. In her presence, I was not Nun, the ancient god of primordial waters. I was simply Xander, man and god, loved and loving, wholly accepted. It was beyond anything I had dared to dream, and for that, I was eternally grateful.

Our lips met, a slow and tender kiss that sent shivers down my spine. My body trembled with ecstasy as the heady mix of passion and vulnerability overwhelmed me, leaving me gasping for air and craving more of her intoxicating touch.

As our lips met again and again, I realized that this moment was a departure from every encounter we'd had before. There was no struggle, no attempt to best one another. Instead, there was an unspoken agreement, a mutual surrender to the connection that had always simmered beneath our surface interactions.

She was a woman allowing herself to be seen, to be vulnerable. And in that concession, I saw her strength, her courage to stand as my equal, not just in battle but in love. It was a revelation, a gift of trust that she offered me, laying bare her heart without the armor of sarcasm or the shield of defiance.

As I wrapped my arms around her, feeling her heart beat against mine, I realized the significance of what we were doing. We weren't just sharing our bodies—we were sharing our scars, our fears, and our dreams. Miranda, in her openness, was teaching me that to love and be loved in return was the greatest power of all.

My hands explored the curves of her body, feeling the soft skin and the warm flesh beneath my fingertips. Her lips parted, inviting me in, and I took advantage of the opportunity, deepening the kiss and angling her head to taste more.

As our kiss deepened, I tasted the sweetness of her lips, the heat of her breath against my mouth. And when my lips trailed down her neck, I tasted the saltiness of her skin mixed with a hint of sweat.

I kissed down her neck, my teeth gently grazing her sensitive skin as I made my way to her breast. I took her nipple into my mouth, sucking gently, eliciting a gasp.

Her body was a masterpiece of curves and contours, her skin glowing in the soft light, beckoning me to explore. Her parted lips were full and inviting, her eyes dark with desire.

Too far gone, words clung to my throat. Unable to speak, my fingers dug into the soft curve of her ass and I hoisted her up.Her legs instantly wrapped around me as I pressed her against the cold glass. She hissed and bucked her hips, grinding into me. The wet heat where our bodies met told me she wanted this as badly as I did. The water glimmered in the soft light and I could see the reflection of our bodies.

I thrust into her slick entrance, her heat wrapping around me. She let out a soft cry, her eyes wide with pleasure. I groaned. Her walls squeezed tight, hugging my hardness to perfection. I wanted to touch every part of her at once.

I thrust deeper, letting her tight heat engulf me.

"Xander," she breathed, her voice hoarse with need.

Her hands gripped my back, pulling me even closer, her nails digging into my skin and leaving small marks that would fade with time. Again and again, I slid into her heat, coming home every time.

I didn’t belong in this world. I wasn’t right in the head. But I found my home and my sanity right here, safe in Miranda’s embrace. With her legs wrapped around my hips as I drove into her, she couldn’t possibly know she was actually holdingmeup in every sense.

Our gasps echoed in the glass tunnel as sweat dripped down our faces. Our breaths turned ragged and desperate as our bodies found the rhythm that drove us higher and higher.

Miranda's eyes locked with mine, a mix of ecstasy and vulnerability that took my breath away. I could see her without the defenses, without the walls. It was just Miranda, every messy little imperfectly perfect piece laid bare to me.

As I thrust harder, my body shook. The rush of pleasure and power overwhelmed me. The muscles in my thighs and buttocks tensed, as waves of pure ecstasy threatened to consume me. I was moments from losing it.

Miranda whimpered, her body convulsed around me, shaking violently as she succumbed to the sensations thatwashed over her. Her body tightened around me, pulling me in deeper.

I groaned, the force of her climax pushing me over the edge. I released myself into her, our bodies shuddering in unison as the orgasm tore through us.

We collapsed back onto a wide viewing bench, our bodies still intertwined, our breaths ragged, hearts beating wildly. I gazed into her eyes, seeing the reflection of our passion and the connection that bound us together.

Then without a word, we dressed and left the tranquil sanctuary of the aquarium, stepping back into the world. The sun was coming up, and we were either going to kill a god or die trying.

Chapter 34

The Badass

The nights had grown too oppressively hot, and even the pre-dawn light streaked through the sky in red spirals like hellish spikes.

Aten wanted his answer at dawn, and I was ready to give it to him.

Xander’s hand held mine with a death grip as we neared KaleidoQuest Experience Center. The wacky museum experience was all the rage, and when we let Sunny go I told her to pass on the message this is where I wanted to meet Aten.

She was to get him exactly where we wanted him.

“I don’t want you to go on your own,” Xander growled next to me.
