I vowed to myself long ago that I would never again be at the mercy of a male not of my choosing. Narrowing my eyes, I use the sight along the back of the blaster. It’s bouncing with each of Brox’s pounding strides, and I close one eye, trying to focus on my target. My finger presses into the trigger, and I squeeze off a shot.
Sparks flash to my right. Nowhere near the male I was aiming at.
Gritting my teeth, I give up on trying to aim and hit the trigger four more times. Hitting the floor, the ceiling, taking out a light in an impressive shower of sparks, andfinally, almost hitting the guard. The pulse at least forces him to dodge, which slows him down.
This is why I like my knives. I can’t hit shit with a blaster.
“Did you get him?” Brox growls.
“No.” I prepare for him to rib me but instead…
“I can reach your knives. Want one of them?” One of his hands starts sliding across my ass and down the side of my thigh.
A shiver runs down my spine, and my arms tighten around his neck. “No,” I gasp. He’s too far, and I doubt I could throw with any kind of accuracy right now. Not when all I can focus on is the feel of Brox’s hands on my body. His solid length between my legs. “Just run; we’re almost there.”
“Hang on, then,” he whispers, and another wash of flesh bumps skates across my chest and down my arms.
My breath stutters in my lungs, and my core clenches as I wrap myself around him, fusing our bodies tightly together. Gods, I need him to hurry. I need him to get me away from the male who’s chasing us, but at the same time, I’m terrified of what will happen when we’re alone.
He’ll ease you. He’s the only one who can.
I don’t want that either. Do I?
My lower stomach clenches, and wetness leaks from between my legs as another wave begins building. Brox’s stride falters for a moment, and he groans at the scent—my scent—perfuming the air.
A growl comes from behind us, and I raise the blaster once more, only the guard is nowhere to be seen.
Shit! Where did he go?
My eyes scan the shadows for any sign of movement, but there is nothing.
“Brox?”
My fingers tighten around the blaster just as a roar comes from my left. It happens so suddenly that I don’t have time to swing my arm that way before the male is plowing into Brox.
We’re thrown to the side, and Brox takes the brunt of our fall, twisting so he lands on his back. When the male pounces, he pushes me, practically throwing me out of the way.
I land on my side and then roll until I can get my feet under me, losing the blaster in the process. Brox and the guard are hissing and growling as they grapple. Matched in size, the guard is only slightly taller, which he uses to his advantage. He manages to pin Brox and then looks up at where I’m crouched. A wide grin slides across his crooked face.
“I’m gonna make you watch as I kill him, and then…” His thick purple tongue swipes across his lips. “And then I’m gonna spend the next span fucking your hot little cunt.”
Like hell am I going to let this male hurt my—
Shaking my head, I scan the ground for the blaster. It couldn’t have gotten far; it was just in my hand. But I can’t see it anywhere.
Brox cries out, and my head snaps back to where the guard has managed to get an arm around his neck and is trying to break it.
Oh, I don’t kurving think so.
My hands go to the knives strapped to my thighs. Gripping the comforting weight in my hands, I let out a war cry before launching myself at the male. He barely has time to look up at me before I sink both blades into either side of his spine, just below his shoulder blades. Judging by the sound he makes, I’m fairly certain at least one blade punctures a lung.
His body jackknifes, and he tosses me aside, freeing Brox to kick him away. The guard’s breath comes out in labored wheezes as he lumbers to his feet.
“You fuckingbitch!”His eyes are glazed with rage, and he roars, charging me with both of my knives still sticking out of his back.
I brace myself, but his weight slams into me with enough force to throw me to my back, knocking the air from my lungs.
“Hold still, you filthy bitch!” Bloody spittle hits the side of my face, and everything just locks up. My brain is screaming at me to struggle, to fight back! But I just… can’t.
