“What school did you guys go to?” he asks.

“Mountain High School. You?” I say, leaning back into my chair.

His brows shoot up. “Okay. I went there too.”

“Hmm,” I say, thinking back to our high school days.

He continues to type as he talks to us. “Who did you guys hang out with?”

“Him,” I say with a giggle, tilting my head over to Zay. “And Rya and Ezra. Do you know them?”

He raises his head and looks between us two. “Ohhh.” His eyebrows raise. “Okay. I remember. You four were always together.”

I giggle. “Yeah. We were.”

“I have a sister, Michelle.” He pauses. “She was in your guy’s grade, and I was a year younger.”

My mouth parts. “Oh, Michelle. Yes. I remember her.” The resemblance of him and Michelle are now hitting me. Blond hair, blue eyes. These two have the brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. They were also very close, always hanging out. “How is she?”

“She’s good. Married. Two kids. You know,” he says, shrugging his shoulders, typing at his computer. “Do you guys have any kids?”

I shake my head. “No. Not yet. What’s new with you?”

His lips go tight, and he shakes his head. “Nothing really. Just work and school. Still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.” He chuckles and looks up at us. “So, you two tied the knot?”

We both nod our heads as we look at one another with a slight smile on both of our faces.

“Yeah, I remember you guys always being together. We all thought you four had some type of foursome going on,” he says as he chuckles.

We chuckle alongside him because it’s not the first time we’ve heard this.

“How are Rya and Ezra? Are you guys still close to them?” he asks.

“Yup. All four of us are stillbestfriends.” Zay says, emphasizing best. “Rya and Ezra are married now.”

“Oh, no way,” Michael says. “That’s cool you guys stayed close.”

All three of us continue talking about the old high school days as we wait for my old phone data to be transferred over to the new one. He gets Zay’s phone connected and his data back onto his new phone.

It’s nice to run into people you went to school with and catch up on how they’re doing. It brings up a lot of nostalgia. Makes me happy from all the memories we had, especially knowing most all our memories are with the four of us and continue to still be.

Rya: Vi! Do you have to bake today?

Violet: No. My order got canceled.

Rya: Yay for me! But I’m sorry for you. I know how frustrating that can be.

Rya: Do you and Zayn want to come over for brunch? Ez is cooking, so you guys won’t get any food poisoning. Lol.

I’m glad I make customers pay a deposit. My policy states that I need a seventy-two-hour cancellation notice. Hopefully, this customer doesn’t argue about it. I hate when customers do that, as if this is only a hobby and not my living wage.

I turn over to Zay, who’s scrolling through his phone. We’ve had a slow morning today and have been lying around in bed. “Rya and Ez want to know if we want to go to brunch over at their place?” Zay stiffens in his scrolling. “Ez is cooking, not Rya.” I chuckle.

Rya used to always try to cook for us when we would have dinners at their house. We never had the heart to tell her itwasn’t that good. But one dinner gave us all food poisoning, or at least that’s what we thought. We finally had to tell her no to her cooking. She wasn’t that hurt by it because she said she hated cooking, anyway. She was only trying to do something for us.

“Oh. Uhh. Sure,” he mumbles.

His answer doesn’t sound so sure. “We don’t have to,” I say.
