After that, I headed down the hall for the cafeteria, where I was sure Margret would be working. She was usually on the late shift and very sweet. Last night I stayed up for hours talking to her about her grandbabies.

Before I could walk into the room filled with tables and chairs, I was cut off. A man in a suit stepped in front of me.

“Harper Callaghan?”

I stared up at the wrinkles around his chocolate eyes. He kind of looked like an older version of Louis Kessler. Was this Mason’s grandpa? “Yes?”

“You need to come with me.”

My brows knit. “Why?”

I couldn’t leave Mason.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me down the hall. “It’s time to pay for your father’s sins.”

What was taking Harper so long?I was starting to worry. She should’ve been back by now. This didn’t feel right.

I climbed out of bed and grunted as the stitches pulled at my flesh. This shit fucking sucked. I really wished I could take something for the pain, but I didn’t want to risk falling back down the hole. There were other people I had to think about. Like the girl of my dreams, and the children we would have.

She could be pregnant right now. Harper wasn’t on birth control and I had yet to pull out. That didn’t mean I would point it out to her. I kind of liked the idea of putting a kid in her belly and watching her swell with my seed. How fucking hot would that be?

I palmed my dick and made my way across the room. I was so fucking hard it hurt. If I didn’t get some pussy soon then I was going to beat her ass.

Speaking of beating her ass…

I peeked out into the hall. Harper was nowhere to be seen. But I did see someone else.

My brow arched at Preston, who was leaning against the wall next to my door. “Hanging out in hospitals now?”

“The morgue is a good place to dump a body. No one’s ever really sure how many they have.”

I didn’t want to know.

“Whatever floats your boat.” I rolled my eyes down the other side of the hall.

“You looking for Harper?” Preston asked.

My eyes narrowed. “Yeah?”

“Your gramps took her.”

That wasn’t what I was expecting. “My gramps took her?”

He nodded.

Riley I would get, but Harper? Gramps barely talked to me. Now Micha, however, was constantly catching his attention – which I thought was hilarious. The old man wasn’t doing himself any favors. My brother knew how to hold a grudge.

“Why the hell would he take Harper?”

“I don’t know.” Preston shrugged. “He said something about father and sins.”

Father and sins? Wasn’t there an Order doctrine about that? What the fuck was it? I really should’ve paid more attention when I read that damn book. Probably would’ve helped if I wasn’t high when I did it.

Okay, I just needed to think. The Order’s fathers never sin? No that was fucking stupid. Everyone in the Order sinned. We were raised in a den of lust and blood. Wait… Blood?

King blood that is spilled by the father,

shall not be forgotten by the child.
