“At least you didn’t paint your face like a whore today.”

Well, there goes that illusion.

I could taste the animosity in my mouth when I smacked my lips together. “Don’t worry, there’s still time.”

If Devlin thought my look last night was bad, just wait until I took the time to fully explore the possibilities of glitter.

“Don’t be such a dick.” The other guy smacked Devlin’s arm, then shot me a smirk. “I think she’s hot.”

Did he just call me hot?

“Uh huh?”

My gaze narrowed. What was his game? Everyone in this house had one, and I doubted he was the exception.

He chuckled at my response. “You’re a suspicious one.”

“I can’t imagine why,” I hissed while glaring at Devlin. “Everyone’s been so welcoming.”

Devlin rolled his eyes. “It hasn’t been that bad.”

“You locked me in a dungeon!”

“You got out.”

Really? That was his response. “And what if I didn’t? Would you have just left me there to die?”

Of course, he would’ve. Bastard.

Devlin shrugged. “Probably.”

That’s it.

I snatched one of the tomes off a nearby shelf. It was time to find out how much force it would take to shove a book up someone’s ass.

Devlin’s brow rose. “And what do you think you’re going to do with that?”

“I thought I’d start with a light beating,.” I growled while glancing down at the hardcover in my hand.

The Art of Warseemed pretty fitting to me.

“I like her.” The other guy snickered. “She’s got spunk.”

He was about to find out how much spunk I had. “Don’t worry, you’ll get your turn.”

As soon as I was done with Devlin, I’d smack that stupid sparkle right out of his eyes.

“Is that any way to talk to your teacher?”

He was kidding, right? “You’re my teacher?”

This guy couldn’t be what Angus deemed as higher learning.

“That’s right.” A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he leaned back against a table behind him and crossed his ankles. “You can call me Mr. Kelly.”

“What are you, twelve?”

I’d have been better off at public school. At least the teachers there didn’t stare at me like they could see through my clothes. Well, most of them didn’t.
