Iwas iffy about Fiona at first. She did just pop out of nowhere, but her philosophy that men were like boobs won me over. They were nice to look at, but no one really wanted them.
Add in the fact that Wyatt ran down the hall like a bat out of hell when he saw us coming, and Fiona was suddenly my new best friend. Anyone who could wipe the smug grin off his face was all right by me.
We spent most of the day together until she had to go. Apparently, an educational institute wasn’t subpar for her. I was a little salty about that, but I looked forward to seeing her on the weekend. Wyatt may not like her, but I, however, thought she was sweet.
And she was more than forthcoming with her information about the Adair men. Magnus had a touch of OCD and couldn’t stand it when something was out of place. So I stopped by his room on my way down to dinner and moved around some stuff on his dresser.
Stuffed animals creeped Wyatt out, which made me regret not keeping any of my childhood friends, and Devlin… Well, he was just an ass. Fiona did, however, give me a few tips on how to deal with him. One of which I was about to test out.
I stopped to readjust the top of my dress. Once I was sure my breasts were propped up nice and firm in the black cups, I pushed my way through the double doors into the dining room.
Family dinner was a formal affair, after all, and one should always dress the part. Though I doubted the tight bodice and strappy heels I wore fit the part the Adair family had in mind.
“What the fuck!?”
Well, I guess Devlin was pissed. Excellent.
If the glare on Devlin’s face wasn’t enough to make satisfaction fill my chest, then the sound of Wyatt choking on his drink sure was. I was going to kiss Fiona when I saw her next.
I walked right up to Devlin and pulled out an empty chair next to him.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
The others may not appreciate my sex kitten look, but Wyatt did. His eyes hadn’t left my cleavage. I wasn’t even mad about it. If anything, I took it as a compliment, and I did have to say, I looked good.
Not only did my hair curl in perfect ringlets, but the blue flecks in my silver eyes were really glimmering. That I could contribute to the irritation openly displayed on Devlin’s face.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” I looked down at the plush red velvet I was about to sit on, then back up at him. “Is this someone else’s spot? No one gave me the seating order.”
Devlin’s glare narrowed. “Do you think you’re cute?”
I cocked a brow down at the breasts practically spilling out of my dress. “Cute isn’t really the look I was going for.”
Just when I didn’t think this moment could get any better, Wyatt tipped his head. “I can almost see her nipples.”
Magnus slapped the back of his head while Devlin shot him a dirty look.
Wyatt responded by flicking a forkful of potatoes at his twin. All hell broke out after that. Devlin slapped his hand down on the table and yelled at Wyatt, which spurred Magnus to come to his twin’s aid and yell at Devlin that it wasn’t Wyatt’s fault. Meanwhile, Wyatt continued to poke both of them. It was quite possibly the greatest moment of my life.
Especially when Magnus looked at me and said, “I hope you’re happy.”
Yes, yes, I was.
Not that I had a chance to tell him that. They were too busy arguing to hear anything I had to say. A few fists even hit the table.
I chose to enjoy the show while I ate. Every bite was swallowed with a big smile on my face. Roast beef wasn’t my favorite, but this was the best dinner I’d ever had. Then Angus had to come in and throw a wrench in my good time.
Magnus was up on the table, holding on to Devlin’s arm, which was raised and ready to strike. Devlin’s other fist had a firm grip on Wyatt’s collar. Wyatt also had his arm ready to hit back. They all froze with one barked statement from their father.
“What’s going on in here?”
I smiled up at him. “You should try the beef. It’s fantastic.”
His judgmental eyes fell on the cloth tightly wrapped around my chest. “I assume this is your doing?”
“Of course this is her fault,” Devlin snarled. “Look at her.”
“Hey.” I shrugged. “I’m just here for the food.”
