If I were invisible, then Wyatt wouldn’t be able to give such a vivid description of my nipples. Maybe I was given the power of silence?

Wyatt shrugged. “Tell her to drop the blanket and you’ll see what I mean.”

Should I use my powers for good or evil?

“I gotta admit”—Magnus tipped his head in a small nod—“I’m kind of curious what she’s got on. The last time Wyatt was this worked up was when Jackie Thomas showed up in that string bikini.”

Devlin cocked a brow, as if he were considering it.

All right, that’s enough of that.

I picked up a little China dog sitting on the bedside table and chucked it at them. It whizzed through the air, narrowly missing Devlin’s nose, and smashed against the wall. Finally, they turned to look at me.

Well, except for Wyatt. He stared down at the broken pieces and whined, “I picked that out for you.”

“Well, now you can shove it up your ass on your way out of my room.”

None of them seemed to like that very much. Well, too bad for them. I didn’t give a crap if they were pissed. Let them stare at me with clenched jaws. I wasn’t scared. Though I did have to push back a shiver when Devlin’s eyes darkened.

Maybe I was a little scared of him.

Devlin uncrossed his arms and took a step forward. “You didn’t come down to dinner.”

“I told you I wasn’t hungry.”

“And I told you…” When he took another step, I had to remind myself to stand my ground. “No one asked if you were hungry.”

Apparently, Mr. High and Mighty had a superiority complex.Shocking.

“Hmm?” While tapping my finger on my chin, “What was it you said to me? Oh, yeah…” I glared directly at him. “Get the fuck out of my room.”

The tick in Devlin’s jaw was all the reaction I needed. “You think you’re pretty smart?”

“I have my moments.”

Sure, I could tell him off. Throw a few snarky comments and call Devlin on his bullshit, but what would that accomplish? Nothing. Other than giving him the satisfaction of my reaction.

Magnus tipped his head at Devlin. “How long do you think she’ll be able to keep that act up?”

Wyatt muttered something about feisty girls being more fun, while Devlin simply crossed his arms and stared me down.

“Not long.”

We’ll see about that.

I returned his stare down with one of my own.

The only difference between the jerkoffs I grew up with and Devlin was that he was better dressed. And better looking. Oh, and he was bigger and totally had that‘I’m gonna kill you’glare down pat.

Okay, so there were a lot of differences. That didn’t mean I was gonna back down. I’d been taking care of myself for as long as I could remember. I was just as capable as he was. A fact that I was bound and determined to prove.

When Devlin let out a huff, I let out a huff, and when he arched a brow, I arched one right back at him. Because fuck him, and fuck his brothers too.

Two words. That’s all it took for my bravado to bleed into the ground.

Devlin tipped his head back and said, “Grab her.”

A stare down was one thing, but getting physical… Yeah, that I was not about to do. Unfortunately, I was stupid.
