I gathered back my composure, standing straighter. “I appreciate the sentiment. You two already do enough guarding and protecting me. I don’t want to burden you any more than necessary.”

“We will take care of you, my lady,” Robin grinned. “Always.”

“With whatever you need,” Reuben added.

They were acting a little strange, based on my perception of their personalities for the past month. Or was this usual with OG Bea? Some spark of recognition might help here, brain.

Definitely not usual. So what was going on?

“The events of today let us realize we need to be more assertive,” Reuben answered my unasked question. “We’re too complacent, just because you’ve always been with us. I didn’t think … things would go this way.” He cleared his throat, glancing at Robin as if he wanted his twin to continue his words.

Robin didn’t hesitate and reached for my cheek, much like the way Amos had caressed it just minutes earlier. “We want to do anything you want, angel. Just ask for it. Please.”

Someone tell me I wasn’t going crazy when it hit me what they were trying to say — they were offering to be mylovers, weren’t they?

Oh, god. Was it obvious that I had a high libido? I tried to cut down on sexual thoughts. I kept trying so, so hard to remain focused on my goal. Was my body betraying me in some way? Did I have any tells? How else would they figure that out?

I looked down at the training tunic I still had on, and I noticed that my nipples were hard and pushing through the fabric. Fuck. What were the odds my face was flushed, too? Inmyworld, that had been the easiest way to tell how turned on Iwas. I blushed like crazy, and the boys there all seemed to take pride in it. Sometimes I didn’t even feel it!

I didn’t think to check. Sure, I felt the warmth and the tingles like before, but was it also possible this body was a blusher, too? If that was true, then —

“Bea.” Reuben glided his fingers over the back of my hand, and despite the seemingly innocent gesture, I was sure it was anything but. “Are we overstepping?”

I gulped again, shaking my head. If they were offering, what were the consequences of that? They weren’t heirs that might disrupt the nobility; they were loyal to me and wouldn’t do anything to denigrate me, and most importantly, they weremine. As long as we kept it a secret, there weren’t any downsides. I didn’t need to look for a random romp in the hay like I had been planning earlier.

Holy fuck, I was seriously considering it. And what was worse was that it made perfect sense.

“I approve of this arrangement,” I quickly muttered before I could change my mind. “My only concern is we should all agree that this,” I pointed to them and then to me, “is not exclusive. That means no jealousy. For either one of us.”

Wow, this reminded me ofthe talkI had with every boyfriend over the years. Only those conversations had love and affection mixed in. This felt like I was assigning them more tasks with their jobs, which in hindsight, was exactly how it was.

But even then, those lovely talks had always ended in disaster. Would it be foolish of me to believe this transactional setup had better chances of success?

Future me’s problem.

“Agreed,” they said in unison, with big smiles on their faces.

“Let’s start slow,” Robin suggested as he nodded at his brother.

I backed away slowly. “What, right now?” I gestured to myself. “I hadn’t taken a bath! I’m filthy from my training class. I hadn’t even changed clothes yet. I’m smelly!”

“That’s the thing,” Reuben mumbled, stepping closer. “Don’t be embarrassed about your body, my lady. Besides, among other things, your scent hinted to us your needs.”

I stopped backing away when my legs hit the edge of my bed, and I sat down, dazed. That was another tell I didn’t know was possible. They could smellme? Like, whatever was going on down there. Did the people here have better senses?

Of course, in a world filled with magic and the supernatural, was it any surprise that heightened olfactory senses existed, too? Had I been broadcasting my horniness to everyone this whole time? No wonder they saw me as easy prey.

Robin raised his eyebrows. “Something tells me you’re getting the wrong idea.” He swiped a hand over his jaw, muffling a laugh I knew was about to come out. “We only have this Bea-sense because we’ve lived with you for so long.”

Reuben’s face turned stoic. “Starlight, we memorize everything about you. You usually smelled like peaches and vanilla. But when there are hints of muskiness mixed in …” He licked his lips as if he couldn’t help but taste it in the air, and the thought aroused me so much that I squeezed my legs together.

Their eyes shot down to the movement before Robin focused back. “Don’t get us wrong, you actually smell better that way.” He grinned as he sat next to me. “May I?”

I didn’t know exactly what he was asking for, but it couldn’t be anything but. I glanced at Reuben, who had also sat on my other side, before I nodded, whispering, “You may.”

Robin nuzzled my neck with his face. “We’ll only do a little bit for now, but rest assured this isn’t the only thing we can do.” At that, he began kissing my neck, while gesturing to his brother as if to say, “Get a move on”.

My other knight watched for a few seconds as his twin licked up my neck, and his mesmerizing green eyes dilating at what he was seeing, coupled with this amazing mouth on my skin, was already sending me into the gates of no return. He reached out and brushed his fingers across my open lips before he guided my jaw so he could dive in and kiss me.
