“Bob Dylan,” Callum comes up behind me and I turn in my chair to face him.
“You’re a Bob Dylan fan?” Paul asks. “That surprises me.”
“Not so much a fan. More like…his music is tied to memories,” I say while looking up at Callum. He winks at me and pulls me to my feet.
“If you will all excuse me, I want to dance with my wife.”
“I’ll take the little man,” Avery walks over and scoops Dylan out of my lap and Callum shakes his head.
“It is so weird seeing you with a baby,” he says.
“Well, you better get used to it. One day, I just might have a son of my own too.”
“So, who would be the CEO of Hardin if that happens?” Noah asks from across the table.
Callum and Avery look at each other with matching competitive smirks before Callum says, “They can rock paper scissors for it.” He pulls me to the floor and everyone cheers. The jazz band in the corner switches to a slow song and Callum pulls me close.
“Live music was a good call,” he says. “I think people expected some kind of a rave or just a song list of artists we produced on loop. I like this much better.”
“It’s about the music,” I tell him. “Not the show.”
“I agree.”
I smile up at him and bite my lip. “I’m never going to get used to you saying that, you know.”
“Saying what?” he asks.
“My wife.”
“You are my wife. You have been for a year,” he chuckles.
“Yeah but this time it’s for real for real.”
“Yeah…” he says and there’s a flicker of something behind his eyes. “So, about the Vegas wedding. I looked that guy up. Apparently he got shut down. I guess his license was expired, though the dates are blurry.”
“So…there’s a chance we were never married to start with?” I ask and Callum shakes his head.
“But that doesn’t matter to me. What matters to me is that we are married now. I’d marry you every day for the rest of my life, Amanda Hardin.”
A grin spreads across my face. “Amanda Hardin. That does sound good doesn’t it. Kinda edgy. Kinda sexy.”
“Kinda like you’re mine,” he says, lowering his face to mine.
“Callum Hardin, I’ve been yours since the day you threw your tie at me. And for the record, I’d wave that paddle every day for the rest of my life.”
