Paige laughed. “All right. I’ll look forward to that, then. Not that you did it wrong this time. That was very, very right.”

Josh turned on his side to face her. “I have to get up pretty early tomorrow, but I want you to spend the night.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. Spending time with you has been the most fun I’ve had since I moved to New York City, and I don’t want that to end yet.”

Paige frowned briefly, probably remembering this would just be tonight. Practically, Josh couldn’t see this having any sort of longevity. Oh, he would love nothing better, but given his work schedule… Or maybe they could date casually for a bit, and when his schedule calmed down, they could…

He was getting ahead of himself.

She smiled now. “I am pretty sleepy. I guess it couldn’t hurt to squeeze in a power nap so that I’m ready when you, how did you put it? Do it right?”

He grinned. “That’s the spirit! Come here.”

She smiled and let him fold her into his arms. She settled her head on his shoulder. “I mean, it went so fast I didn’t have time to come up with any sexy puns.”

“Glad I made you forget.”

“It was prettyhard. You’d be prettycockyif you thought you could come up with better puns than me.”

Josh laughed even though he thought the jokes were corny. He hugged her as he did.

“I could keep going,” she said.

“I’m good.” He yawned. “And apparently a little sleepy as well. That power nap sounds good.”

“Nighty night, pretty boy. See you in a few hours when we do this the right way.”

Josh was pretty sure he fell asleep with a smile on his face.

Chapter 5

When Josh woke up, his right arm was pins and needles. When he tried to pick it up, he couldn’t, and after a brief moment of worry over sleep paralysis, he realized that Paige was lying on top of it. And, well, for that, he’d willingly sacrifice his arm.

He’d always thought watching someone sleep was a little creepy, but Paige was so beautiful he couldn’t help himself. Her lips were slightly parted, her hair was splayed across his pillow, and he admired the way her bare shoulder peeked out from under the covers. And then, because he didn’t want to seem creepy if she woke up, he closed his eyes and tried to go back to sleep.

He had started to drift off when he felt her stir. When he opened his eyes, she was looking back at him.

“Hi,” he said.

“Hi. It seems to be morning.”

He rolled back and looked at his alarm clock. It was 5:00. “Barely.”

“I didn’t really mean to spend the night.”

He reached over and ran his fingers through her hair. “I’m not sad you did. I asked you to, remember?”

“See? Don’t be cute, because then I’ll feel bad about not seeing you again.”

“Who says you won’t see me again?”

“Be real, Josh. We talked about this. One night, remember?”

“Yeah.” Although the prospect of this being it was tremendously disappointing. “I know. And that’s best. But we get along great, I think you’re amazing, and the sex was fantastic. Is it really going to be just the one night?”

Paige bit her lip. “What about your job? You said you live at your office.”
