I grinned as I pulled her into my arms and settled her on my lap. “I always knew you would be fun,” I chuckled, and dragged my lips across her neck. Her skin warmed at my touch, and her heart began to race as my hands slid across her stomach.
“The monsters know what you mean to us,” Kade growled like the goblin had gotten off easy. “She should have known better.”
“And I dare say now she does,” Darian said with a smirk, like he was delighted at the turn of events.
Raine still looked like she was contemplating going after the goblin, but I kissed along her shoulder, distracting her. “If you follow the goblin, you’ll only terrify her more. Leave her be,” I murmured.
Raine still didn’t look convinced, but I trailed my kisses up and along her jaw, and she turned her head to me, pressing her lips against mine. I groaned as her tongue dipped into my mouth, and she wiggled her ass, making my cock so hard it ached.Fuck.
“You’d better stop, sweetheart, unless you want an audience,” I said, pulling my lips from hers. She only rubbed her ass harder, enjoying how it tortured me.
I could feel my brothers watching us, all of them just as ready as I was. With the whirlwind of events these past nights, none of us had been able to enjoy her company nearly as much as we would’ve liked.
It wasn’t just my brothers who were enjoying the show, either. A small group of demons strolled past us, and my gaze flicked up in time to see one of the demons give me an assessing gaze, lust shining in her bronze eyes. Raine didn’t notice the female’s lingering stare, but Darian raised a brow, and his gaze locked with mine.
I easily read the question in his eyes. Over the last few nights, it had become obvious that things were shifting. Unlike in the past, monsters were no longer keeping their distance and ignoring my existence. Females who once refused to acknowledge me were now trying to catch my gaze, and even some of the males were beginning to treat me with more respect.
It seemed that capturing Warrick had made the monsters a little more accepting, and even, appreciative. Also, since Raine had become a monster, it was as if everyone wanted to know about the fiery dragon shifter and the males who had her attention. I didn’t give a shit about what any of them thought about me. I never had. But it was an interestin’ development. Whatever the monsters used to believe about me bein’ potentially detrimental to their fucked up social status or mental health, was quickly fading.
“She’d better stop ogling you, or she’ll end up like the goblin,” Raine said with a smile, and I wasn’t sure if she was joking or not.
Grinning, I lifted Raine, spinning her around and spreading her legs so she was facing me. As her thighs slid to either side of me, her eyes popped wide. “As far as I remember, you only have one of those. Unless there’s something you haven’t told me…”
My grin widened, and I reached beneath her leg, taking out the weapon I’d hidden in my pants and handing it to her. She stared at it in surprise and pulled the dagger from the leather sheath. “It has a dragon,” she breathed in awe, inspecting the tiny metal creature that decorated the hilt. A small red gem was embedded in the dragon’s chest, and its spiked tail curled around, reaching close to its face. “Goddess, its beautiful.”
My hands slid up her waist. “I had it made for you. To replace the dagger I took.”
Her eyes met mine. “Wait, does this mean you’re not giving me my dagger back?”
My lips twitched as I thought of the makeshift blade that was still in my room in the mountain. The one I’d confiscated from her after she’d stabbed it into my shoulder. “I was hopin’ we might be able to trade,” I replied with a smile.
She grinned, her eyes sparkling. “I’m not sure if it’s a fair exchange given the time I spent crafting my blade, but I’ll allow it.”
Her fingers brushed over the dragon again.
“Does that mean you like it?” I asked, my heart pounding, though I wasn’t sure why I was so nervous.
“That depends, are you going to mind if I get blood on my new blade?”
I wrapped my arms tighter around her, sliding my hands down until I gripped her ass. “I’d be offended if you didn’t.”
Smiling, she twisted and peered around like she was searching for a target, and as her gaze fixed on something in the distance her eyes lit up. A few yards away, a round wooden training shield had been left propped against the wall. “How about I start with that?” she suggested eagerly.
I didn’t doubt she could hit the target, but I gestured my head to her empty goblet resting on the table in front of us. “Are you sure that’s a good idea seein’ as you’ve been drinkin’.”
Locke, who had been mostly silent all night, folded his arms across his chest. “If she’s going to carry it around, she should know if the blade is balanced correctly.”
“Exactly,” Raine said, her expression becoming serious. “This baby looks like she’d be better at stabbing, but I’m sure I can hit…” she trailed off as she drew her hand back and flicked her wrist, sending the blade spinning in the air. It flew across the room and straight into…
Cassar let out an animalistic grunt as the blade sunk into his right ass-cheek. “What the fuck!” The shifter had walked right in front of us as Raine had thrown the blade. A female shifter from their house stood beside him, and she gaped at Cassar as he yanked out the blade and looked around murderously for his attacker. I couldn’t help the belly-aching laughter that exploded from me.
“Sorry!” Raine called out, giving me a reprimanding look and scrambling to get off my lap. Cassar’s face hardened when he noticed us, but despite his glare he didn’t move toward us. Instead, he eyed the blade and smiled broadly. The bastard went to slide Raine’s dagger into his pants like it was some sort of consolation prize.
Fucking asshole.I lifted to my feet, but Raine was already moving toward the shifter.
“Oh, fuck no,” she huffed under her breath, but Locke made it to Cassar first.
Locke’s stare was as cold as ice as he eyed Cassar and held out his clawed hand. “Thank you for collecting Raine’s blade, she would have been…upset had it gone missing. Now, if you wouldn’t mind…”
