Chapter Six

Mine

Acheron

She’s driving me insane.

Every hour she spends in this office is an hour I fight the urge to tear the walls down just to get to her.She moves like prey. Her scent is liquid fire—ripe, slick, utterly unclaimed—and every second I don’t mark her feels like a goddamn war inside my chest.

And yet, I wait.My dragon is enraged but I won’t take what we both want until she gives in.She needs to choose us, or it will always be a thing between us.

I give her tasks.Small things at first, menial, but always close to me.Always within reach.I watch how she reacts to pressure. To my proximity. To the way my voice drops when I speak her name.Every time her thighs press together, every flinch, every tremble, only fuels the beast inside me.

I send her to the twenty-seventh floor to deliver a sealed contract. There’s no reason it needs to be hand-delivered, but I want to see what happens when someone else gets close to her. When another male breathes the same air. Will she react to another male they way she reacts to me?I need to know.

I watch on the security feed as the finance director, an unmated Alpha, leans a little too close.Smiles a little too wide as she leans away from him, trying to get away from him before he can touch her, but he does touch her hand, and my vision goes red.My dragon surges forward pushing at my control.

Mine.

He roars the word in the recesses of my mind, and I howl in pain.He has never been this loud before and it feels like he is going to rip me apart from the inside out.

I don’t remember standing.Don’t remember getting in the elevator. All I know is by the time I make it to the twenty-seventh floor, the director is already backing away from her, sensing the fury pouring off me like a storm.

Zahara blinks up at me, startled. Her hands are shaking.

“Sir?”she squeaks out.

I don’t say a word.Instead, I take her by the wrist and pull her into the elevator. She doesn’t resist me and that serves to calm my dragon at least a fraction.

I slam the button for the penthouse suite and hold her against the mirrored wall. The moment the doors slide shut, the scent of her hits me full force.Slick.Heat.Omega submission. She’s so close to breaking, I can taste it.

She looks up at me with wide, shining eyes.“You said you’d wait.”

“I did.”I press my forehead to hers, breathing her in.“And I tried, but I can’t fight this anymore. It’s pulling me apart and my dragon is losing his fucking mind.”

I don’t give her time to protest. My mouth crashes into hers with a snarl, my hands gripping her hips as her body melts against mine. She moans, gods, the sound of it, and her nails dig into my suit jacket.

I drag her into the suite the second the doors open.My mouth never leaves hers.I shove her against the wall, grinding my erection into her core, feeling the heat that’s been torturing me for days.
