Are you in a hurry? Got a hot date??
Travis:
Fuck yes. At my place. All you assholes are invited.
Tanner:
We should be good to go around 11.
Liam:
Hell yes! I’m down. Will there be girls?
Travis:
?? What the shit kind of question is that? Of course there will be girls!
Liam:
But like…for me?
Travis:
Liam, buddy, you couldn’t handle more than one.
Liam:
Well, that’s rude.
I roll my eyes but keep out of the conversation like always.
Travis:
I’m bringing a girl, and she’s bringing a friend…
My thumbs fly across the screen before I even realize what I’m doing.
Penn:
No. Get your own.
Liam:
Fine
A separate message pops up from Travis just to me.
Travis:
???
I ignore it and toss my phone on the couch. I’m too tired to deal with him. Barbie has a boyfriend, if that’s the friend he’s talking about, and I’m pretty sure it is. Even if she didn’t, she wouldn’t be up for grabs. I saw her first.
It’s not like Liam will have trouble finding someone. The rising interest in us over the last few months has given them a pool of readily available women right at their feet, making their egos—Travis’s ego—swell to an unhealthy level. He’ll dive in head first—no,dickfirst. Liam has a particular taste, though, and Tanner doesn’t participate. He’s basically married.
“After the show, everyone’s coming back to my place. You in?” Travis reminds me for the tenth time as we make our way to The Cold Spot.
I’m driving the van while Tanner and Liam follow us in Tanner’s car. We bought the van last year because we needed something big enough to haul all our shit, but with most gigs being local, Tanner still likes to drive himself so he can go home immediately after.
