“Okay, now we’re cooking.” Ellie lifts her cup, drinking.

I shake my head but laugh. “Yeah, I’ve never done that, and it’s not on my list.”

The first few rounds are relatively slow, but as the alcohol starts to work its magic, our lips loosen.

“Never have I ever had a threesome!” Ellie says.

We all side-eye each other, but none of us drinks.

“But I would,” Ellie mumbles, causing us to crack up again.

“Never have I ever gone on a blind date,” I say when it’s my turn.

“Are you seriously looking up stuff on your phone!?” Ellie gasps.

I slam my phone down. “What, no?”

“You are not that boring, Liv. You’re dating a rock star now. Act like it.”

“Well, his sister is right there,” I grit out, and Pacey giggles.

Ellie glances at Pacey. “Girl, save this game.”

Pacey sits up straighter, taking the demand seriously. “Never have I ever…had my toes sucked!”

A horrified shriek comes from me when Ellie puts the glass to her lips and drinks. “What? You can’t knock it until you try it!”

“You liked it?” Pacey questions, though she doesn’t appear as shaken as I am.

“No. It wasn’t my thing, but I had to know, ya know? There’s a lot of weird shit out there and I’m not against trying anything at least once.”

“Fair enough.” Pacey nods.

I can’t get the image of it out of my head.Toes to mouth? Was it Travis?

I don’t realize I say it aloud until Ellie cackles. “God no, but I bet he’d be down for that. I can’t picture him saying no to anything.”

We go through an entire pitcher of sangria and some when Ellie says, “Never have I ever vandalized a guy’s shit for revenge, but hot damn if that’s not on my list!”

I laugh because, honestly, I’m tipsy and that’s all I can seem to do. When Pacey drinks, the laughter cuts off. Ellie and I both stare at her.

“Okay, spill it,” Ellie says. “Wait!” She pours another cup, then motions for her to go on.

“It’s not that cool, really.” Pacey shrugs. “I wish I had done more damage, you know?” She peers down at her cup, her eyes turning sad. My chest squeezes. I don’t know her story, but it’s obvious she’s been through a lot. “I bleached some of his clothes.” She looks up at us with a small smile. “Had I known I was never going to go back and get any of my stuff, I would’ve blown through that fucking house with a lighter and gasoline.”

My eyes bug out as her tone turns serious. I can’t tell if it’s the alcohol talking or not.

Ellie interjects. “Wait a minute. You didn’t getanyof your things? He has it all?”

“I came with the clothes on my back and nothing else.”

“Well, fuck him!” Ellie says. “Let’s go get your shit!”

My stomach clenches as Pacey and Ellie share a sneaky grin.

“We should!” Pacey says.

“Uh…” I say weakly.
