“So, when I take my god baby to my house it will be ready,” he said, looking at me like I was crazy for asking him that.

“Your god baby?”

“Of course! I’m going to be the god father. I’ll draw that paperwork up too,” he said, sitting down in the chair across from my desk.

“We’ll circle back to that, but can you treat this like client-attorney privilege and not tell the family? We want to wait until after the doctor appointment Bailey’s ass kept rescheduling,” I said, rolling my eyes; during her time of shock, Bailey kept moving back appointment. Now she was ready.

“My lips are sealed. Now!” he said, clapping his hands once then rubbing them together. “Let’s get down to business and get this damn cancer name Eva James out of your life for good.”

“Sounds good to me.”

Torrence and I were working for four hours before we took a break, and when I looked at my phone, I frowned. The last message I had was from Bailey saying she had arrived at her meeting. Her meeting should have been over by now andshe said she was going to call me. I had Lloyd stay until she was finished, but just in case her meeting ran longer than expected, I called him first.

When his phone went to voicemail after ringing several times, I called right back and got the same result. I dialed Bailey and her phone went straight to voicemail, which was not normal.

Something wasn’t right.

I called again, and this time when I heard the phone line connect, I let out a sigh a relief.

“Bailey, baby where—” I began in a rush, but when the deep male voice interrupted me, my blood ran cold as dread filled my body.

“Well, well, well… if it isn’t my competition, Titan Browning. I was wondering when you were going to call and interrupt my fun,” he said with a sinister laugh.

“Who the fuck is this? And where is my wife?!” I shouted, getting to my feet, rushing to my closet to get my jacket with my cars keys. When I came out, Torrence was right on my heels as I ran out of my office to the elevators. I heard him tell Royce to cancel my day, and he barely caught the elevator before the doors closed. I put the phone on speaker.

“Why ask questions you know the answer to? But just in case my sweet Bailey never talked about me, which I can understand, it’s tacky to bring up your first true love to your so-called fiancé. We’ve met; this is Angelo Davis.”

My knees buckled, and Torrence caught me before I could fall.

“Where the fuck is my wife?!” I yelled again.

“She’s not your wife!” He yelled back and he sounded unhinged.

“If you hurt her, Ipromise, you won’t see tomorrow,” I said through gritted teeth as we reached the garage level. Torrence nodded his head in approval. I’ve never taken a life, but for mywoman and my unborn child, I would go to hell if that meant they would be unharmed.

I clicked the button on my key fob and the lights on my Maserati flashed in my reserved spot.

“Aww… there’s no need for threats. I’ll take care of Bailey just like I did last time. I bet her pussy still tastes as sweet as I remember. You should have heard her moan as I ran my tongue through her juicy pussy.” He sounded like he was moaning, and I was ready to kill this bitch ass muthafucka as my vision blurred.

“You’re a fuckin’ dead man walking!” I yelled and when he hung up I wanted to throw my phone against the wall. I was seething and I felt lightheaded. I needed to fuck some shit up and Angelo Davis was going to be on the receiving end of my fury.

“Titan, please; you need totryto calm down. I don’t want you stroking out again like the last time you got this angry.” Torrence was jogging next to me, and I knew he was right, but how I was feeling in this moment was much worse than that time Eva came to my office because I didn’t know where the fuck to look. I was fucking scared, because I didn’t know how Bailey was, and she was with the man who sexually assaulted her years ago – she going through God knows what. I wanted to cry, scream, fight, kill, all at the same time.

“Hurry up! I need to get to her, Tore!” I shouted, going to the driver’s side of the car, and he blocked me.

“You can’t drive this emotional. I’ll drive, and you make calls and find out the last place Bailey was. I have some friends in the force; call District 1 and ask for...” I zoned out as I tried to reel my thoughts in and focus.

I needed to find Bailey like I needed breath in my body.

Bailey

Four hours earlier…

I nearly skipped to the elevator after leaving Titan’s office moments after getting my back blown out in the best way. I wondered if this was normal. I always wanted to have Titan in these guts, but since learning I was pregnant, I’ve been on that man like white on rice.

I waved to Royce as I passed his desk, and he winked at me, giving me a knowing smile. I felt my cheeks heat in slight embarrassment. I guess it didn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together about what we were doing in Titan’s office, Lord knows I was loud enough.

When I got to the elevator, I pressed the call button and seconds later, I was stepping on and riding it down to the lobby. Once I went through the revolving doors, Lloyd was waiting for me at the curb with the back passenger door open to Titan’s silver Mercedes Maybach.
