She didn’t seem overly concerned by his reaction.Instead, she reached for the wine bottle and poured them each a glass.
He took a sip, waited for his irritation to pass.It wasn’t her fault, he knew.It was his.Like it had been his whole life.
“This is good,” she said after taking her first drink.She turned the bottle to face her so she could read the label.“This is a Texas wine?”
“Yeah.”
“Something you own?”
“A very small interest in it,” he said.
“We need to serve this at the event.”
He nodded.“Excellent idea.”
“Do you have contact information?I may need to find a distributor, depending on how many bottles we need.”
“Remind me if I forget.”
“Oh, I will.”
“Speaking of forgetting?”
She regarded him over the rim of the glass, her hazel eyes wide.
“Show me,” he said.
“Show you?”Her voice was strained, with embarrassment, maybe fear?
Impatient, tired of waiting, wanting her, he put his glass on the counter.“Bend over, lift your skirt.”
“Uhm…”
He plucked the glass from her hand then twirled one of his fingers.“Turn around.”
Without a word, she turned.Then she caught the hem of her skirt with both hands and drew it up her thighs.
Black lace panties covered her derriere.
After putting her glass next to his, he pulled down her underwear.
The plug was there, its tiny amber jewels reflecting the overhead light.“Beautiful.”Only at that moment did he admit to himself how much it had mattered.“Thank you.”He stripped off her briefs and stuffed the tantalizing undies in his pocket.
Then he helped her to stand and turned her to face him.

“I want to take you to the loft.Manny and his crew installed a couple of window air conditioner units, so the barn should be comfortable enough.”
“Yes,” she agreed with a slightly breathless note in her voice.
