I want to smile at the frown now marring her brow, but fucking her in the office is not something I want to start. The memory would mean I never got another moment of work done in my life. I can feel her disappointment, so I cup her cheeks and drop a kiss on her nose.

“Patience. All good things come to those who wait. And I promise, it will be worth the wait.” I smirk. “We both need some energy for what I have in store.”

Her eyes widen, and I grin. She shoots a look of longing at her desk before waggling her eyebrows at me.

“No,” I say, “Let’s get out of here. I want to make you scream, and I’m not sure you want the rest of your team to know what I’m doing to you.”

She moans before slamming her lips once more against mine.

When we finally break apart, I say, “I’ve booked us a table at Marco’s.”

She places a hand on my chest and looks up at me with her large brown eyes.

“Do they offer takeaway?”

My fingers flex around her ass, and she groans.

“We can order from the car,” I say, grabbing her handbag off her desk, suddenly filled with a desperate need to get out of here. “Need anything else?”

Pen shakes her head, laughing. I don’t think I’ve seen Pen look so carefree or mischievous. At least, not since…I don’t let my mind return there.

My lips smash down on hers one last time as I take her hand in mine, interlocking our fingers. It’s not early, so when I pull her from her office, the floor is mainly empty. Only Danika, Pen’s PA, is sitting at her desk.

“Have a good night,” I say as I pull Pen past her.

“You too,” Danika calls after us as we move towards the elevator.

I can hear the amusement in her voice.

When the lift door finally closes, I pull Pen into my arms.

“I think Dani just got the answer she’s been looking for all day,” Pen says, giggling, her cheeks glowing.

I raise my eyebrows.

Pen smacks my chest. “I blame you,” she says, trying to sound stern. “What are you doing to me? I’m acting like a teenager. I’ve got sex on the brain…I’ve never had sex on the brain!”

I drop a kiss on her nose.

“Me too,” I say, grinning and pulling her hard against me so she can feeljust how muchshe’s on my brain. “I propose we relive our teenage years and have lots and lots of sex.”

Pen throws back her head and laughs.

“I like your thinking, Mr Frazer. You’re on!”

CHAPTER 44

PEN

The past two weeks have been crazy. Elijah and I have spent every waking moment together, sneaking around like two lust-filled teenagers.

It’s like I’ve reverted to my teenage years, or at least the teenage years I should have lived. When instead of being free and easy, I was an angry, rebellious teen with an enormous chip on my shoulder. I pushed everyone away. It was Mum and me against the world in my eyes. It was only when I met The Frazer family my barriers began to crumble. Franny, Robert, Elijah, and his siblings took my prickly exterior and chipped away at it bit by bit until it came crashing down, revealing the real me. And while I was there, vulnerable, they didn’t take advantage. Instead, they built me up, showed me all I could be. Something I embraced with both hands.

It’s been hard to watch Elijah over the years and be unable to do anything to help him. But in the past two weeks, I have seen a difference. Elijah is different. It’s like he’s untethered the man I first knew all those years ago. The one who had the whole world ahead of him. A man whose glass was always half full and looked on the bright side of everything.

“Go and pack a bag,” Elijah says as I walk through my front door.

“Lovely to see you too,” I say, walking up to him and wrapping my arms around his neck.
