"Your limp is worse." She held on tighter to him. "It was too soon to travel so far."
"It'll be fine. I'm out of shape from you pampering me."
"Should I get Finn? Maybe he should look at your leg." She stopped. "I think he's in the clubhouse."
"There's nothing more he can do." He got her walking again.
His leg would heal or it wouldn't. Time would tell. Physically, nothing was wrong. The skin had healed. The bone was strong. He could walk.
But the muscles where the bullet went through continued to give him trouble. Finn predicted the adhesions binding the muscle would make his leg stiff for the rest of his life.
At his Harley, he put his helmet on Lizzy and gritted his teeth as he sat the seat. She climbed up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. Living across from the bar had its perks, and in no time, he was home.
He carried his duffle into the house and aimed his body toward the couch, dropping the bag at his feet. He lifted his leg when Lizzy put the pillow beside him and laid back, patting his stomach. "Come here."
"I'm not going to sit on you." She stood in front of him.
"It's my leg that hurts, not the rest of me." He hooked her thigh, pulling her closer. "Don't make me lift you. I'm old, tired, and beat up."
"Aw, my poor biker." She gently sat on his stomach.
He slid his hand between her legs. "Next time I go up to Seattle for a visit, you're going with me. You can warm my back. My parents would like to see you again."
She leaned down and kissed him. "How are your parents?"
"Mom's enjoying having Anna and her family home. If Anna's not holding the new baby, mom is right there spoiling her." He reached down, grabbing his duffle, and set it on her lap. "Mom gave me something to give to you."
"Me?" She unzipped the bag and rummaged through the extra clothes, pulling out a wrapped package.
He set the duffle out of the way and watched her unwrap the gift. There was never any doubt that his mom would take a liking to Lizzy. It hadn't mattered that he was forty-four years old, family was everything to him. For his parents to see him happy and claiming a woman meant Lizzy was now one of them.
Lizzy gasped and ran her hand over the front of a book. "It's a photo album. Look."
She held it up. He read the front cover. Roar & Lizzy
"Nice." He rubbed her leg.
"Oh." She held the album up. "She put a picture of us in here. I didn't even know your mom took one of us the last time we were up there together."
The picture was taken in his parents' house. Lizzy sat on his lap smiling at someone out of the photo, and he had his hand between her thighs, like now. "It's a good picture."
"Mm-hm." She stood, set down the present, and kneeled on the floor. "I need to kiss you."
He stuck his finger under the hairband holding her hair in a knot on the top of her head. The strands fell with the softest of caresses against his skin.
His gaze dropped to her plump lips. "Get to it."
She leaned forward and rubbed her lips against his, and opened when he opened. A deep sigh of contentment swept through her at the soft touch of his tongue, filling him with pride. The hunger to be close to her, closer than humanly possible, never went away.
Pulling back, she peppered him with light kisses. "I love you so much," she whispered.
"Hold that thought." He rolled to a sitting position and stood.
"What are you doing?"
His chest pounded and he stepped toward her. "Taking you upstairs, so you can tell me again how much you love me."
She walked backward in front of him. "Don't you want to rest?"
"No." He limped forward.
She reached the stairs and turned around. He followed her up, watching her ass sway with each step she took. The bar closed in three hours, and Elling would bring Coco back to the house. There was a lot he could do stretched out on the bed.
And, he wanted no distractions when he showed her how much he loved her.
