“Absolutely.”

His tongue runs along my bottom lip before it slips into my mouth and dances with mine. The taste of mint and fresh water drives me wild. He’s so goddamn hypnotic.

With a growl, he pulls back, a smile on his face. “Come on. Otherwise, we’ll be here all day.”

“I’d be happy with that.” I chuckle, following him to the car.

We get in, and he starts up the engine. “How long will we be out for?”

“Most of the morning.”

“Is there an actual reason I had to wear shorts, or do you just want to look at my legs?”

He smiles. “Both.”

“Come on, man. You’ve got to give me more than this. This anxiety is making me want to call my sponsor,” I tease.

He shoots me a look and I wiggle my brows.

“That was not even funny.”

“And neither is not knowing. I hate surprises.”

“Okay fine. I’m taking you on a date. Now chill the hell out.”

I’m satisfied with his answer and rest back in my seat as he drives. But I continue to run a list of date possibilities and scenarios through my mind.

“Gray and Nora aren’t at work today. Are we double dating with them?”

“I don’t think Nora would appreciate her big brother tagging along with her on her only day off with Grayson. So, no.”

“Mark or Charlie?”

He chuckles. “No. It’s just us.”

If I’m honest with myself, I’m more excited than anxious. And now that I know it’ll be just the two of us, it’s even better.

I turn up the radio when I hear Coldplay come on. Their song Magic plays, and the words fit well with how I feel about the man sitting next to me. As I rest my hand on Wade’s thigh, a little smile tugs his lips, causing my stomach to flutter. Being with him has made me realize that intimacy isn’t just about sex. The little comforting things that come with being together make what we have and what I feel more special. The side glances, the small touches and the whispers of appreciation. All of that outweighs everything I thought I needed.

As if he can feel me staring, he glances my way, his smile wilder. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Am I not allowed to look at you?”

“Well, yeah. But why?”

“Because you are hot as fuck.”

He chuckles when I serenade him and sing along to the song, clicking my fingers and swaying my shoulders. I must admit, it’s totally out of character for me but he has this way of bringing out all of the sides I never knew I had. I feel comfortable with him and happier than I ever have been. So, I just let my body do what it feels it needs to.

“What has gotten into you?”

“Can’t I sing to my hot as fuck guy?”

“Of course, you can. It’s just not like you that’s all.”

“What can I say.” I lean over when the car stops at the lights, grab his jaw, and pull him to me for a kiss right after I say, “You bring out the best in me.”

He takes my hand and kisses my knuckles before turning back to the wheel. We turn into the parking lot near the Marina, and I’m now more confused than ever as to what we are doing.
