“Really?” I drew it out. “I haven’t seen a mirror in a couple of hours, but I’m pretty sure you’re the good-looking one tonight.”
“Well, it’s not fair, you see.” Scooting closer, I could feel his warmth as he put his arm up over my shoulders, squeezing lightly and lovingly as ever. “You’re the beautiful one.”
“Not true.” I slowly shook my head. “I was afraid of you finding out, but look at me… the stuff they gave me must be working, because…” I pressed my lips together. “Dean, you’re gorgeous. I always thought so, from the day we met.”
“How come you never made a pass at me, then?” he teased.
“And waste Pearl’s chance at being our Cupid in heaven?” I smacked my lips.
Once again, he leaned in to kiss me, this time on the lips.
And this time, it wasn’t like all the others.
It wasn’t only a kiss of passion for his lover, or love for his wife; it was so much deeper, so much grander that it encompassed my whole world.
Forever.
