I realize that we have been there for quite a bit of time and I have a paper I want to start, so I get ready to let them know that I am going to head back to my dorm room. That’s when I see Hudson watching us from afar.
Anger flares up inside me and I feel my skin become hot. How dare he humiliate me in public, kick me to the curb, and then stalk me?! Is he fucking crazy?! What the fuck is wrong with him?!
I glare at him, making eye contact. I want him to know that I see him.
“You guys want a drink?” Tricia asks.
“I’ll take one!” Melissa jumps up with her.
“I’m good,” I say glancing over and smiling, so they don’t notice Hudson in the distance.
“We’ll be right back!”
Let’s see how you like this. You want to watch me? I’m going to give you something to look at.
I scoot over to Tricia’s empty seat and Henrik’s eyes are already all over me. I playfully tuck my hair behind my ear and pretend to be interested in him.
“You know you didn’t have to wait for Tricia to walk away,” Henrik laughs. “You wouldn’t believe how open our relationship is. We’ve watched each other fuck so many different people.”
I laugh awkwardly, but immediately regret my decision to try to flirt with him. Then, I think what the fuck? Oh well…It’s too late to turn back now.
“Why don’t you come sit in my lap? I bet it’s more comfy than that bench,” Henrik pats his leg, inviting me.
Oh that would definitely piss Hudson off.
I happily plop down onto Henrik’s lap and I can’t lie, it is definitely more comfy than the bench.
I glance over in Hudson’s direction just in time to see him storming off looking livid. I know that look all too well. He's been super possessive recently and I’m sure my sitting in another guy’s lap crosses the line in his books, especially since it was Henrik.
“Getting comfortable finally?” Tricia and Melissa are back with drinks. Tricia has a huge smile on her face and winks at Henrik. I am not quite sure if I am supposed to catch that, but I can’t shake the feeling of discomfort it gives me.
“Yeah, maybe a little too comfortable.” I fake a yawn, really exaggerating it with arm stretching and everything. “I’m getting sleepy. I think I’m going to go back to the room and take a nap.”
I bet he’s there waiting for me now.
“Do you want me to come back with you?” Melissa asks, but I can tell she’s having a good time and doesn’t want to leave. Besides, I’m sure Hudson and I will need some alone time.
“No, that's okay! I’ll just be sleeping. Stay and have a good time!” I give her a hug, and smile and wave to Tricia and Henrik. “See you guys around.”
“Hopefully soon, right?” Henrik asks. Tricia is back in his lap, sipping her drink, and looking completely unfazed. I guess what he said about their relationship must be true.
“Yeah, soon.”
I start to run back to our dorm room, as soon as I’m out of sight, hoping that Hudson is waiting for me there. I want us to break this streak of no contact, even if it’s with an argument.
However, when I open the door to my dorm room, Hudson isn’t there. How long is he going to keep this up for?!
I feel more angry and upset than I think I should and I don’t understand why. Hudson isn’t my boyfriend or anything, so why do I feel so disappointed just because we aren’t around each other? It shouldn’t be this much of a big deal. I shouldn’t care this much.
But I do.
I hear the ding of a message on my phone and I pull it out quickly in the hopes of seeing a text from Hudson, ordering me to meet him at our spot. Instead it’s Tricia sending a text to Melissa and I. Melissa must be on her way back to the dorm.
Hey! Thank you ladies for coming to the picnic! It was so much fun! Zeta Tau is having a special rush game this evening and both you girls are invited! It’s invite-only for pledges that we are strongly considering, so you definitely don’t want to miss it!
Absolutely, we’ll be there!
Before I can even process the invitation, there’s Melissa, answering for me. I guess we’re going.
