How are you supposed to react when the football quarterback of your dreams lies on the ground at your feet? His position isn’t due to an excess of emotion for her, it’s…it’s just a mess.
Zoey Harmon isn’t exactly sure what to do about this guy, but she’s not exactly sure about much at the moment. First of all, her family has gone whacko. Her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher? That seems to be slipping out of her grasp. Her boyfriend?
No. There’s no boyfriend, except in her imagination. In her daydreams, he’s cute, attentive, fun, and most importantly, he’s so in love with her. But in her real life, there’s just this guy: the quarterback on the floor, Everett Ford.
Obviously, he has problems of his own! He got demoted. He wrecked his car. His agent dropped him. He threw up in front of his boss. And there’s more—but he’s working his way back, back to the professional league, back to a position as a starter, back to stability and happiness. He’s trying, anyway, and Zoey could be a big part of that. She could be the answer!
Despite his issues, Everett may be her answer, too. There might be snowstorms, fires, heartbreak, kale smoothies, legal battles, ugly bathing suits, and desertions, but together? Their friendship can pull them through. Because they’ll start off as friends—but there’s a lot more coming…
