Unexpected Sweetheart

Ryan:
I am not a rancher. My father was. But now that he’s gone, my finance analyst background needs to work out what to do with Sweetheart Mountain Ranch, a legacy I don’t know how to properly run and can’t afford. This place used to be a refuge for troubled youths, but the books don’t lie. There’s no money here. Only debt. I can’t keep this place going.
Not for my father.
Not the for town.
Not even for the arrogant suit insisting I take his definitely-not-a-teenage daughter off his hands.

I am not a teen. Nor am I wayward. But my father is insisting I learn a lesson or two about the ‘real world’ before I’m given any kind of access to the trust my grandfather put aside for when I turn twenty-one. I fail to see how working on a ranch is a window into reality. I mean, how many ranchers does a regular person meet walking down the street? None. That’s how many.
